SUSIE IBARRA TO PERFORM RARE SOLO PERFORMANCE IN BERKELEY

New York-based Susie Ibarra to make rare solo performance at newly created non-profit jazz venue, The Jazz House.

Berkeley, CA (June 16, 2003)-Susie Ibarra, one of the most sought-after drummers in New York City, will be making a rare solo performance at The Jazz House on Wednesday, June 25, 2003. This will be the only Bay Area opportunity to see Susie Ibarra perform on her way to multi-night appearances at the Vancouver Jazz Festival.

Born in California, raised in Texas and now based in New York City, Susie Ibarra is working on a number of projects with artists such as Dave Douglas and John Zorn. She has worked with Derek Bailey, David S. Ware, Ikue Mori, Dave Douglas and Matthew Shipp among others. Of Filipino descent, her music blends Asian traditions, free jazz, improvisation and minimalism into evocative and dynamic soundscapes.

She is a frequent performer at New York's Tonic, as well as throughout Europe, Canada and the U.S., having performed solo at Carnegie Hall, Walker Art Center, Tonic and the Berlin Music Festival.

Tickets will be on sale at the door for $15, beginning at 7:30pm, Wednesday, June 25, 2003. No advance ticket sales are available. The Jazz House is an intimate venue seating 70 people.
